Allison Hubenig

Allison Hubenig Teacher - LYNX Edmonton

Allison Hubenig is the lead teacher for LYNX Edmonton. She holds a Bachelor of Education with a Business major from the University of Regina (2006) and a Master’s in Educational Technology from the University of British Columbia (2024). Before joining Third Schools, Allison taught students in Grades 1 through 12 in Saskatchewan from 2006 to 2010 and in Alberta from 2013 to 2022. She has a solid background in both conventional indoor classrooms and outdoor education settings and integrates advanced educational technologies to create meaningful and engaging experiences for her learners. Her profound respect for Indigenous ways of knowing and being is incorporated into her teaching practice.

Allison’s extensive experience with outdoor teaching began as a teenager in the Sea Cadet Program and continued as she led and developed Outdoor Education programs. In her most recent role, she collaborated on a women’s outdoor program. She specializes in developing and delivering workshops on survival and land-based skills, as well as leatherwork. Allison focuses on the power of experiential education to build confidence, resilience, and a deep connection to nature.

Committed to fostering lifelong learning, she continuously innovates ways to integrate outdoor experiences into education, ensuring that students acquire practical skills and a profound appreciation for the natural world. Allison is excited that LYNX Edmonton will enable students in Grades 1 through 9 to experience the mental, physical, and social benefits of nature inspired education.
