Erin Marceau Home Education Manager

Erin is a dedicated educator with a multifaceted background in mathematics, French language instruction, and homeschooling. Her journey in education began during her high school years, where she showcased exceptional aptitude in mathematics and developed a deep-seated passion for French as a Second Language. This fervor for linguistic and cultural exploration led her to participate in a Summer Work Exchange Program, where she embarked on a transformative journey across Canada to Montreal. During her time there, she immersed herself in the French-speaking environment, working as a day camp counselor and living with a Quebecois family.

Building on her experiences, Erin pursued higher education at the University of Alberta, graduating with a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in Mathematics and French as a Second Language in 2006. Eager to contribute to the field of education, she seamlessly transitioned into teaching, continuing her position as a student teacher at Archbishop MacDonald High School in Edmonton. Subsequently, Erin embraced the opportunity to teach at a self-directed high school, where she honed her skills in fostering independent learning environments.

Throughout her career, Erin's commitment to education remained unwavering. She ventured into substitute teaching across various schools in Calgary before finding her niche at Foothills Composite High School, where she taught Mathematics and French as a Second Language. Her passion for empowering students extended beyond the traditional classroom setting, as evidenced by her tenure as a tutor and instructor at Bow Valley College and Columbia College, where she provided personalized instruction in high school upgrading and pre-nursing mathematics.

Erin's dedication to education transcended conventional boundaries, as she also embraced opportunities in alternative learning settings. Her involvement with Chinook Learning saw her enriching the educational experiences of grade 11 students during summer school sessions. Furthermore, Erin embarked on a profound homeschooling journey, spending six enriching years exploring the world alongside her children.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Erin's compassion extended to the welfare of animals. Alongside her family, she actively fostered animals with the Calgary Humane Society, providing care and shelter to nearly 200 animals, ranging from puppies and kittens to reptiles and arachnids.

In response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, Erin seized the opportunity to pivot her career trajectory, assuming the role of a Home Education Manager with ursa. In this capacity, she leverages her expertise to support parental choice in education, serving as a knowledgeable and empathetic resource for families navigating the realm of home education.

Erin's diverse experiences, unwavering dedication, and passion for empowering learners exemplify her as a formidable force in the field of education. She continues to inspire and uplift both students and families, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and exploration.
